SSE is a large energy company which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, they are one of the ‘big six’ suppliers in the United Kingdom supplying millions with gas and electricity.
SSE was formed by the merger of several pre-existing energy companies. Initially Scottish Hydro-Electric and Southern Electric combined to form Scottish & Southern Electric, then they acquired the Welsh brand SWALEC. Figures published in 2016 estimates that SSE has approximately twenty-one thousand employees located in regional offices across the country.
